Describing a picture
Walk by the sea was painted by Juaquin Sorolla Bastida a Spanish impressionist painter (1863-1923).
This beautiful painting is one of his most known. In it the author presents us his wife and daughter walking by the sea in a summer day. Here we can appreciate some of the characteristics feature of his work: the long brushstrokes and the bright and importance of the colours.
The bright white of the elegant old fashioned outfits, which contrasts with the others colours, focuses our attention on the two women wearing them. The painting is full of light and colour. The brushstrokes are long and the colours are bright to give realism to a summer day. It is amazing how through the movement of their clothes and the ripples of the sea, the painter expresses the ocean breeze. It is so real that when we look at this picture we can almost feel the breeze and the smell of the sea and what is more,it makes us feel happiness and optimism.
It looks like a photo because the author achieves to capture this lovely instant with the precision of a photographer.
I have chosen this painting because I like it and I hope you like it too.
